Oyster Review Summary

Photos and Review by Oyster.com Investigators

Pros

  • Direct access to a private beach
  • Optional all-inclusive plan includes all meals, daily activities, access to the fitness center, and 24-hour room service
  • All rooms have living rooms and kitchenettes (complete with microwaves, coffeemakers, refrigerators, stovetops, and wet bars)
  • All rooms have balconies overlooking the ocean
  • Total of 6 gorgeous pools, some with ocean views
  • 3 bars and 4 restaurants, including a 24-hour bistro and a gourmet, adults-only option
  • Beautiful spa includes Jacuzzis and treatment rooms
  • Large fitness center featuring cardio machines with personal TVs and weights
  • Kids' club for ages 4 through 11 with activities such as arts and crafts, pool games, and movies; other family-friendly amenities include a playground, tennis courts, and volleyball courts

Cons

  • Fee for use of the fitness center and Wi-Fi if not on the all-inclusive plan
  • Adults-only restaurant not included in the all-inclusive plan
  • Rooms have tube TVs

Bottom Line

This 635-suite Pueblo Bonito is an all-inclusive optional megaresort with direct access to a gorgeous beach. The family-friendly alternative to its adults-only sister resort -- the nearby Pacifica -- Sunset Beach has tons of kid-friendly amenities: a kids' club, six gorgeous pools, a playground, tennis courts, a beach volleyball court, and novelties such as flamingos roaming the property. But couples can have just as much fun here; one of the three restaurants is adults-only, and the spa features numerous treatment rooms, as well as a Jacuzzi set in a beautiful, stone-walled room. The suites at the hotel are average, featuring simple Mexican-inspired decor (picture pops of red and blues in the comforters and living room furniture) as well as fully equipped kitchenettes. Surprisingly for a hotel of this category, rooms only have tube TVs. Most guests choose to go with the all-inclusive option; those that don't have to deal with pesky fees for simple amenities such as Wi-Fi and access to the fitness center.

Oyster Hotel Review

 Location

On a beautiful beach, a short drive from downtown Cabo

At the southern tip of Mexico's Baja Peninsula, Cabo San Lucas -- a beach town on the stretch of coastline collectively known as Los Cabos (The Capes) -- has long been a popular vacation spot for sun-worshipping party seekers. (Hence, the nickname Cabo San Loco.) This Pueblo Bonitio sits on a gorgeous beach, just a short drive from the marina and downtown Cabo.

Downtown Cabo San Lucas is filled with dining, shopping, and nightlife options. Being on the marina also makes catching ferries to nearby attractions like Playa del Amor and Land's End convenient. Despite the bustling activity, the area is safe and patrolled by police.

  • 50-minute drive to Los Cabos International Airport
  • 8-minute drive to the historic stone church, Iglesia de San Lucas, established in 1730
  • 10-minute drive to the marina
  • 10-minute drive to downtown Cabo's party spots
