Our Favorite All-Inclusive Resorts in Mexico for a Sexy Getaway

This post originally appeared on Yahoo! Travel.

Nothing says romance quite like a steamy trip to Mexico, where all you have to worry about is making sure your significant other is sufficiently slathered in sunscreen -- which can be a fun activity in and of itself! So that's why we’ve rounded up a list of our favorite all-inclusive hideaways below the border. Whether you’re seeking a quiet, secluded escape, or something a little more sultry and sinful, here are the best all-inclusive resorts in Mexico for a romantic winter or spring break getaway.

Excellence Playa Mujeres

-

They picked the right name for this adults-only, Playa Mujeres property -- everything about the hotel exudes excellence. From the oversized rooms and the impeccably manicured pool grounds, to the world-class spa and contemporary restaurants, Excellence Playa Mujeres is virtually flawless. The resort truly lives up to its title of “all-inclusive” by offering dozens of free activities, including water sports and even introductory scuba lessons. Potential guests should note, however, that the beach is less attractive than others nearby, and some guests complain about the pool water being chilly.

The Royal Hideaway Playacar

-

For couples, The Royal Hideaway Playacar is one of Playa del Carmen’s most attractive options. Located on a beautiful stretch of sand, the hotel has six pools and endless lounging options. Upscale rooms are chock-full of modern amenities and all have large balconies. Guests can choose from six outstanding dining options, including a seating at a chef’s table. Some guests complain that the main pool can get a little rowdy, while those responsible for the rowdiness dislike that only one hotel bar remains open after midnight. Should you care to leave the property, the hotel is just a short drive from great shopping along Playa’s “Fifth Avenue.”

Secrets Vallarta Bay

-

Located on Las Glorias Beach, the gorgeous, adults-only Secrets Vallarta Bay does a lot of things right. Contemporary rooms with private balconies, personal service, high-quality restaurants serving a wide array of cuisines, unlimited premium alcohol, and an enormous spa with a focus on luxe couples’ treatments, are just a few aspects that make this resort memorable. However, the hotel is known to get crowded, making it difficult to nab pool chairs and causing some rowdiness by the pool area. But hey, with all-inclusive alcohol and a swim-up bar, a little rowdiness might be a good thing.

Temptation Resort Spa Cancun

-

For some sultry fun in the sun, uninhibited travelers will love this topless-optional resort. There is never a dull moment at Temptation Resort Spa Cancun, which features themed swimming pools and nightly risqué live shows. Singles and couples seeking some fun (of the adventurous variety) will find plenty to do here, from the Miss Temptation competition to the sexy Temptation Idol karaoke. All 384 guest rooms are spacious, and feature passionate red and white color schemes. The uninhibited environment is not for everyone, and the hotel's beach is a bit small, but that's not why visitors stay at this intriguing resort.

Blue Diamond Riviera Maya by BlueBay

-

Sleek, sexy, and incredibly romantic, Blue Diamond Riviera Maya by BlueBay puts a modern twist on the ultimate Mexican getaway. Grounds are partially manicured and partially jungle-like, creating an overarching ambiance of remote isolation. Sleekly designed suites and casitas have private outdoor bathtubs and fully stocked minibars with free drinks. The beachfront pool area features romantic day beds and incredible ocean views. Guests will enjoy the quiet, relaxed atmosphere that extends from the luxe, semi-outdoor spa to the seven restaurants and bars, including a cigar lounge. But the size of the large property means lots of walking and spotty Wi-Fi.

El Dorado Casitas Royale

-

El Dorado Casitas Royale is an adults-only resort geared toward peaceful, romantic getaways, and it sees its fair share of honeymoons, anniversaries, and vow renewals. Each grouping of casitas has its own pool area that connects to a larger, resort-wide lazy river. Luckily the pools are large, considering the beach is rocky and the ocean's a bit too rough for swimming. El Dorado offers a dizzying array of restaurants, bars, nightlife, spa treatments, and daily activities to keep guests busy. But food and drink quality varies between bars and restaurants, and some guests may find the time-share spiel annoying.

Pueblo Bonito Pacifica Resort

-

Couples seeking tranquility will find it at Pueblo Bonito Pacifica Resort. Though it’s only a 10-minute drive from Cabo’s crazy nightlife, it feels a world away. The world-class spa offers beachside yoga classes and features a “meditation labyrinth,” while the resort’s five distinct restaurants offer everything from sushi, to Italian, to lighter spa fare. All five bars serve premium (though not top shelf) liquor, and rooms feature understated contemporary beach decor with dark woods, Mexican accents, and large, ocean-view balconies. The downside? Rooms have tube TVs and beach beds are only available for guests staying in premiere suites.

The Beloved Hotel

-

Staying in the all-white rooms at the ultra-luxe Beloved Hotel feels more like staying in South Beach than Cancun. But hey, there’s nothing wrong with sleek marble bathrooms, whirlpool tubs, sun-drenched balconies, and private plunge pools...no matter where they feel like they're located. The Beloved also has two incredible pools (though many guests complain that the water is cold) and four restaurants (though service is known to be slow, and food quality iffy). The 35,000-square-foot spa features a salon, 14 treatments rooms, and an ice glacier room amongst others. But for guests looking for some quality beach time, it should be noted that The Beloved’s beach has an issue with seaweed debris.

Desire Resort & Spa Riviera Maya

-

The couples-only, clothing-optional Desire Resort & Spa Riviera Maya attracts everyone from older, married couples to young nudists and swingers. This is a place for those interested in a raucous vacation. Steamy nightly entertainment, X-rated whirlpool parties, and the notorious Sin room adjacent to the hotel’s nightclub are just some of the hotel’s erotic offerings. Rooms are a tad smaller than those at comparable resorts nearby, but they’re nicely furnished and feature private patios or balconies. Both the pool and rooftop whirlpool have ocean views, and the hotel’s beach is simply gorgeous, but the rowdy atmosphere is definitely not for everyone.
