The Most Luxurious Rooms in Mykonos

See recent posts by Lara Grant

An extremely popular tourist destination, Mykonos is a Greek island in the Cyclades group known for its sandy beaches, iconic white-washed buildings, and popular nightlife scene. You'll likely spend your time there busily roaming around the island -- whether you're looking to scuba dive in the blue water, get your fill of olives, fish, and baklava, or grab a drink with the locals -- but you'll eventually have to retire to your room (to rest up so you can start all over again the next day). And some hotels have created ultra luxurious accommodations -- think comfy beds, private whirlpools, and stocked minibars -- so that you actually look forward to returning to your room each night. So if you want to indulge in luxe digs while in Mykonos, these eight hotels have the best rooms money can buy.

Myconian Villa Collection

Myconian Villa Collection is a luxury property on a quiet strip of Elia Beach with loads of lavish features. Highlights include an infinity saltwater pool, private beach on the Aegean, and on-site spa with saltwater therapy treatments. All guest rooms and villas, like the Villa Exclusive, are first rate; each opens to a private balcony or patio with a swimming pool, and some have hot tubs. Air-conditioning, free Wi-Fi, and flat-screen TVs with DVD players come standard. The decor is modern and minimalist, with lots of bright-white fabrics and walls, plus curated metal sculptures. Tables are made of split and treated hardwood. Some villas have full kitchens and wine refrigerators. Bathrooms include separate soaking bathtubs and rainfall showerheads, along with Molton Brown amenities and soft bathrobes.

Myconian Ambassador Hotel & Thalasso Spa Center

Myconian Ambassador Hotel & Thalasso Spa Center is a luxury hotel (it’s part of the Relais & Chateaux chain) with 70 rooms overlooking Platis Gialos. Rooms differ in decor; some have beachy furnishings and wooden floors, and others have floral paintings and tile floors. The most luxurious is the Villa, which has a huge terrace with a covered patio area and dipping pool. Decor and furnishings are dominated by whites, tans, and wood accents, creating an airy and chic space. All rooms have minibars, flat-screen TVs with satellite channels, and free Wi-Fi. Robes and slippers are provided, and bathroom amenity kits offer a generous selection.

Mykonos Grand Hotel & Resort

Mykonos Grand Hotel & Resort is a design-forward luxury property with many of the same features (chic outdoor swimming pool, beach facilities, spa, restaurants) as its competitors in this price range. The most elaborate rooms are the suites, which have private swimming pools, two bedrooms, and telescopes for star gazing. The private infinity swimming pool overlooking the Aegean, outdoor patio furniture, white Dionysos marble floors, and large soaking tubs are sure to meet all room amenity requirements for a luxurious getaway.

Royal Myconian Resort & Thalasso Spa Center

Royal Myconian Resort & Thalasso Spa Center is a luxury chain hotel with 148 stylish guest rooms, which include suites and villas, on a steep hill above beautiful Elia Beach, where hotel guests have access to a private section with daybeds. Although the Junior Suite is large and has a stunning bedroom, the Double Deluxe Room with Outdoor Jacuzzi is the more fabulous choice since you don’t have to leave your balcony for a hot tub soak while overlooking the water. The bedroom is spacious and more colorful than most hotel rooms in Mykonos.

Nissaki Hotel

Nissaki Hotel is a posh, boutique hotel overlooking the exclusive Psarou Beach and less than a five-minute walk to the beach of Platis Gialos. The hotel has 18 upscale guest rooms with marble bathrooms and stylish furnishings, like silver mirrors and poster beds. The Executive Suite with Outdoor Jacuzzi is particularly chic, with an elegant bedroom, kitchen area, and huge terrace with padded lounge chairs, tables, and a whirlpool

Rocabella Mykonos Art Hotel & SPA

The 21-room Rocabella Mykonos Art Hotel & Spa is a luxurious boutique hideaway just above gorgeous Agios Stefanos beach. Rooms are spacious and modern with artistic, natural decor — plus amazing views of the sea. All have romantic lighting and organic details, including twisted wood chandeliers, wood furniture, and potted plants. There are enough extras for a relaxing night in, such as DVD/CD players, flat-screen TVs, minibars stocked with local delicacies, and turndown service with aromatherapy and sweet treats. Bathrooms are serene and natural, done in stucco, with wooden shelves, potted lavender, and fantastic walk-in showers. The Deluxe Room with Outdoor Jacuzzi is romantic with a terrace that has a table, chairs, and whirlpool.

Lithos by Spyros & Flora

The 15-room Lithos by Spyros & Flora is an upscale boutique hotel located a few miles from central Mykonos, along the shore at Agios Ioannis Beach. Rooms, suites, and studios at the Lithos by Spyros and Flora are immaculate and enormous, and come with kitchenettes, seating areas, and balconies with pretty wooden tables and chairs, many of which have phenomenal Aegean Sea views. Furnishings and textiles are mostly white, with earth tone accents and occasional touches of blue or green, and modern furniture with clean lines. Bathrooms are gorgeous and white, with beautiful tile-work, glass shower stalls, and an abundance of olive oil-based toiletries.

Myconian Imperial Hotel & Thalasso Centre

Myconian Imperial Hotel & Thalasso Centre is a gorgeous luxury property on the island of Mykonos. There are 118 nicely sized guest rooms and suites, and some of them have jaw-dropping views of the Aegean Sea and Elia Beach. Satellite LCD TVs, free Wi-Fi, and a furnished balcony or patio come standard in each — though some balconies offer zero privacy. Private hot tubs are a definite upgrade. They’re elegant and airy, but not quite as luxurious as one may expect for this price point. Bathrooms have white marble vanities, blue and white tiles, and tub/shower combinations.
