Bottom Line

A good fit for business travelers, the Hyatt Regency Chicago is a huge, upscale, chain hotel with 2,019 rooms located in the northern part of The Loop within walking distance to Millennium Park. It has four restaurants, a business center, and fitness center; convention attendees may not even feel the need to leave the property. Rooms are modern and fresh with several conveniences including minibars and coffeemakers, and some offer views of the river or lake. Parking at the hotel is pricey, but throwing it on the company card may lessen the sting for those traveling for work. Guests may want to compare rates with the nearby Wyndham Grand Chicago Riverfront. There is a pesky fee for Wi-Fi.

Hyatt Regency Chicago

Scene

Large, modern chain hotel with open lobby and special lounge for club members

The Hyatt Regency Chicago is a sprawling hotel with a bright, glass-enclosed lobby with escalators connecting its two levels. The hotel feels a bit like an airport with couches, tables, and outlets providing a convenient spot for business travelers to work on their laptops. Guests can order appetizers, cocktails, and draft beers brewed in Chicago at BIG Bar, an extremely long bar on-site with a room full of barstools and 24 TVs. There’s also an atrium bar and restaurant where guests can dine for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, as well as a steak and sushi restaurant. In the Regency Club Lounge located on a penthouse level, available to guests staying in Regency Club rooms, a free breakfast, afternoon hors d'oeuvres, and evening desserts are served. Overall the atmosphere is refined and corporate.
