Bottom Line

The Butlers Townhouse is a four-pearl, traditionally decorated, 20-room guest house that's within a three-minute walk of Lansdowne Road Dart Station, and within a 15-minute walk of several Grand Canal Quay waterfront restaurants. Guest rooms, with two-fold Egyptian cotton sheets and handmade pillows, are lush and immaculate, and their posh upholstered armchairs and decorative fireplaces, capture the ambience of the Victorian era. Bathrooms, which have French doors, are pristine with modern fixtures, but run a bit small. Wi-Fi, a shoe-shine service, and 24-hour tea-and-coffee service are available free to all guests. A gourmet Irish breakfast is included in the "Bed & Breakfast" rate. The Drawing Room offers free scones, muffins, and juice in the afternoon. Light sleepers should request rooms at the back of the hotel to avoid the noise of pedestrian traffic, which can get loud during events at Aviva Stadium.

Scene

A charming Victorian townhouse within a five-minute walk of Aviva Stadium

Meticulously restored and furnished in a Victorian style, the Butlers Townhouse has kept many of its original features. The Drawing Room is intimate and inviting with oversize floral-print armchairs, rich gold satin window dressings, dim lighting, an alcove of books, and an open fireplace. The hotel's Conservatory Restaurant is cleverly designed, with warm crimson walls and cozy corners that extend to a sunny and inviting conservatory space. Guests include couples on a romantic getaway, business travelers, families, and tourist groups -- and thankfully the Residents' Lounge has enough cozy seating to accommodate them all, including on its paved patio.

Location

Adjacent to Aviva Stadium, and a two-minute walk to Lansdowne Road Dart Station

Butlers Townhouse is conveniently located for guests attending sports matches or concerts at Aviva Stadium, which is about a five-minute walk from the hotel. A range of shops are within an 11-minute drive on Grafton Street, and the Grand Canal Quay, with several waterfront restaurants, is about a 15-minute walk from Butlers Townhouse. Transport links to Dublin's city center are a two-minute walk away at Lansdowne Road Dart Station. The live music and entertainment amphitheater 3Arena is a nine-minute drive from the hotel. For a pint of Guinness and daily live Irish music, the Temple Bar, a traditional Irish pub, is within a 15-minute drive of Butlers. And Dublin Airport is a 21-minute drive away.

Rooms

Boutique guest rooms with Victorian-style fixtures and fittings

The hotel's 20 rooms include Deluxe Double, Deluxe King, and Superior King Rooms. All rooms are meticulously furnished with deeply atmospheric Victorian details, such as textured wallpaper, cozy armchairs, and ornate, decorative fireplace mantels in a few. Beds are lush with quality bed frames, two-fold Egyptian cotton sheets, and handmade pillows. Wallpapered bathrooms have tubs and top-notch power-showers, hairdryers, and toiletries. All rooms include remote-controlled air-conditioning, free Wi-Fi, small flat-screen satellite TVs, and, in keeping with the "butler" name, free 24-hour coffee and tea service, home-baked cookie service, and shoe-shine service.

Features

Pampering freebies like tea, coffee, and homemade cookies delivered to rooms

The Butlers Townhouse pampers guests with a free 24-hour service that delivers coffee, tea, and home-baked cookies to guest rooms. It also offers free shoe shines on request. An on-site Irish breakfast is available (for a fee or included in the "Bed & Breakfast" rate) with extended breakfast hours and an optional takeaway service. In-room massage and beauty treatments are available for a fee as well. The hotel offers discounted rates at a nearby gym and beauty salon, which the front desk will arrange, but there are no on-site fitness or spa facilities. Free limited parking is available, even during post check-out hours. Free muffins, scones, and juice are available daily in the hotel's Drawing Room
