Located on the northern side of South Beach at 20th Street, the Setai's stretch of beachfront is considerably removed from the crowds. Teak lounge chairs in slate-colored cushions are spread a civilized distance from one another, though any one of the many beach attendants will gladly heave the lounger to the sunny -- or shady -- spot of your choice. In addition to the standard cocktail and snack services, the Setai also offers free spritzes of Evian water, iPods (to borrow), and fashion magazines. Next to the Setai, the Shore Club is also on a quieter stretch of beach. Food and drinks service is available beachside. Though the hotel is more adult- than kid-oriented, the hotel provides toys and plastic shovels for sand-castle building. Jet-Ski rentals are available here from Boucher Brothers for $80 (single) or $85 (double) per half-hour. One block south, at 17th Street, the Delano sees slightly more beachgoers but rarely feels crowded. The Delano claims its slice of the beach with all-white loungers, all-white umbrellas, and an all-white service stand. Attendants make up loungers like beds, with fitted terry cloth sheets wrapped around the cushions. Food and drinks service is available -- the disposable plastic cups are more about foot safety than glamour. The Delano is one of the few hotels in South Beach to provide full food service on the beach. Just south of the Delano, at Lincoln Road, the beach at the Ritz is especially active, filled with shoppers, skateboarders, joggers, and many families. The Ritz provides lounge chairs, towels, and drinks service, and the Ritz Kids Club also plans beachside activities for 5- to 12-year-olds. One block further south, at 16th Street, the larger, family-focused Loews offers beachside food and drinks service from the hotel's Nautilus Bar. Its kids club also organizes full- and half-day activities on the beach, including seashell hunting and sand-castle building.
