Traditional, cozy rooms have flat-screen TVs and some have fireplaces. The hotel's only suite offers a terrace, a mini-fridge, and a whirlpool tub. However, the insulation in rooms doesn’t keep out noises. The rooms at the Cornell Hotel de France are quieter.
Scene
Mid-range hotel with French country designs, antique details, and a cozy fireplace parlor
The mid-range Petite Auberge has a Gallic ambience, despite it's location in San Francisco’s lower Nob Hill. The five-story hotel offers a cozy atmosphere, with antique designs and decor, terracotta tile floors, floral wallpaper, white interior shutters, iron chandeliers, and wingback chairs. Hallways are decorated in floral wallpaper and carpeting and there's a narrow, old-fashioned elevator and a staircase with wooden railings. A fireplace parlor is decorated in comfy sofas; free water, coffee, tea, bottled water, board games and cookies are provided in the afternoon. Happy hour is also held in the parlor, with free evening wine and hors d'oeuvres.

The Petite Auberge is located right on Bush Street, in lower Nob Hill. Its sister hotel, the White Swan, is next door. Both hotels share a block with a market, cafes, and restaurants; Union Square is four blocks away. The Powell-Market cable car turnaround and the Westfield San Francisco Centre, with affordable and high-end shopping, are both a short walk away. It’s 10 minutes by cable car to Chinatown, while Fisherman's Wharf is 10 minutes by car or 25 minutes by cable car. The San Francisco International Airport is a 25-minute drive.
