- Two casual on-the-go restaurants, and a grill and fire pit for do-it-yourself cooking

- Free Wi-Fi in guestrooms and the lobby
Bottom Line
The 123-room Disney Hilton Head Resort is a quiet, relaxed resort on a tiny island within the central region of larger Hilton Head Island. Perhaps because of its Disney brand, the hotel has a bit of a kitschy vibe -- rooms are outfitted in lodge-like decor, and daily activities include singing around the campfire. But overall it's less "Disney-y" than other Disney resorts, while still including a long list of kid-friendly amenities: two pools (one with a waterslide), a basketball court, a game room, and a playground. Although the hotel overlooks Broad Creek, and there's a fishing pier for those looking to cast a line, it is more than a mile from the hotel's Beach House with beach access. The resort provides a free shuttle, but some other beaches are actually closer to the resort, so having a car is a plus.

On a tiny island in the middle of Hilton Head Island
A sports enthusiast's ocean escape, Hilton Head is an action-packed coastal city that has historically attracted an upscale crowd. Although it's surely luxurious, this resort town is equally laid-back, boasting calm public beaches and low-key seafood eateries.
Most of Hilton Head's attractions are outdoors. Local golf courses have long been its claim-to-fame, but tennis and horseback riding are also big draws. Book a boat tour and it's almost guaranteed you'll see dolphins. Local forest preserves offer plenty of wildlife to observe, too, like snowy egret, otters, wild boars, and even alligators.
Disney's Hilton Head Resort is on an island within the island of Hilton Head, but areas of the greater island are easily accessible.
