Right on the Grand Canal, and a short walk from the train station -- but far from Piazza San Marco
The hotel is located right on the Grand Canal, which is the main thoroughfare on the island. It is right across the canal from the train station, so this part of the waterway can see a lot of traffic and crowds, but the deeper you go into the neighborhood, the quieter it gets. This is not one of the main tourist areas since the major attractions are on or around Piazza San Marco -- located a 25-minute walk from the hotel-- so it’s possible to walk the streets without feeling overwhelmed by hordes of travelers. However, some business here, especially restaurants, do cater to tourists and can be overpriced.
This luxurious 22-room boutique is housed in a centuries-old palace located along the Grand Canal, near the main train station in Venice. Decadent rooms have modern amenities including flat-screen TVs and comfortable beds, but the use of rich patterns in gold and blues, the classic artwork on the walls, and the Rococo-style furniture might be a bit too much to some. Rooms facing the canal have better views (though some have small windows), but those overlooking the lovely square are quieter. Though location is convenient for those arriving to Venice by train, the hotel is a 25-minute walk from Piazza San Marco, and it lacks a full restaurant.
