The 62-room BLVD Hotel & Suites is a
value hotel that sits on popular Highland Ave, within walking distance of the TCL Chinese Theatre,
Hollywood Walk of Fame, and Hollywood Bowl. Rooms
are modern with wood floors, mini-fridges, coffeemakers, and large flat-screen
TVs, and suites have additional square footage. The on-site Archive
Lounge and Cafe serves cocktails and snacks, and the small outdoor pool is a nice perk. Free Wi-Fi runs throughout, and limited on-site parking is available for a fee. Many guests mention the hallway and traffic
noise, so while this is a conveniently located property, it's best-suited to younger travelers keen on experiencing the local nightlife.
Scene
A funky, modern hotel with a young, upbeat atmosphere
With a lively and hip atmosphere, the
BLVD Hotel & Suites caters to a younger clientele and appeals to those who
enjoy contemporary design. The lobby’s modern art, recessed lighting, and wood
floors are illuminated by the large, bright windows, while the Archive Lounge
and Cafe has mood lighting, additional big windows, and colorful seating, plus a red bar with sleek stools and an Art Deco-style emblem on the wall. An outdoor
patio area in the front of the hotel has orange seating with a lovely, wood
privacy wall around it; a few potted plants decorate the area as well. Common
spaces flow cleanly due to the hotel’s open plan. Although the outside looks
plain in gray, the interior is funky and interesting with splashes of color. The pool, too, has dark gray walls offset by chairs in various bright shades.
Location
Exceptional central location where many top attractions are walkable
The BLVD Hotel & Suites is in a prime
location on extremely busy Highland Ave. The Hollywood Walk of Fame, Hollywood
Bowl, and TCL Chinese Theatre are all less than a 10-minute walk from the hotel, while Universal Studios Hollywood is a five-minute drive. Sunset Strip and the
Hollywood sign are a 15-minute drive away, while Los Angeles International
Airport is around 40 minutes to an hour from the hotel, traffic-depending.
Rooms
Contemporary with wood floors and large flat-screen TVs; suites have lounge areas
Even though standard rooms and suites
vary quite a bit in square footage, the amenities and contemporary design are
about the same. Blue accent walls and desk chairs, orange bed pillows, and framed modern photography lend some edge, while beautiful hardwood floors and wood crown molding keep the look classy. Suites also have tan leather
couches and fluffy rugs in their lounge areas. Each room has a pillowtop bed with feather duvet, mini-fridge, microwave, coffeemaker, and wall-mounted 47-inch flat-screen TV. Bathrooms have gray walls, tan-tiled toilet and shower/tub combo areas, and speckled granite countertops in the separate sink areas. Eco-friendly BLVD toiletries are also
included. However, many guests remark on the loud hallway noises from other
guests, as well as the traffic noise.
Features
Contemporary lounge in addition to business center and outdoor pool
The Archive Lounge and Cafe is a big plus for most guests staying at the BLVD Hotel & Suites, serving classic cocktails
made famous by celebrities. Coffee and light snacks -- including bagels and granola bars for breakfast -- are also available for sale. Discounted tickets to Universal Studios and
Hollywood tours are offered through the concierge service, and there is a
24-hour business center with two computers. There is an outdoor pool, but it’s
small and lacks seating. The on-site fitness center is cramped and has limited
equipment. Additionally, the on-site private parking garage has a daily fee and
limited spaces.
