Hard Rock Hotel Pattaya

Pattaya, Thailand

The upscale Hard Rock Hotel Pattaya remains one Pattaya's most popular international brand hotels. Rooms are modern and keep the garish rock-themed decor to a blessed minimum, with features like flat-screen TVs, minibars, and air-conditioning. Guitars are available for nightly jam sessions and there's a swim-up bar and weekend foam parties at the massive pool. A full-service spa, endless kid-friendly activities, and a beach just across the road all make this a fine pick, but the hotel's surroundings in downtown Pattaya can feel a little lurid at night. Those who aren't timid, though, will find lots of restaurants and bars nearby, meaning the sub-par food at the hotel can be sidestepped. Those wanting something a little less hectic might prefer similarly-priced Rabbit Resort nearby, which has a more intimate vibe.

Centara Pattaya Hotel

Pattaya, Thailand

The 152-room, upper-middle-range Centara Pattaya Hotel has a central location, set a six-minute walk from the beach and close to shopping and diningoptions. Rooms are modern and minimalist, equipped with furnished outdoor spaces, minibars, and flat-screen TVs. Families traveling with children can choose from a family studio with bunkbeds or a two-bedroom suite. Aside from the outdoor pool, though, there aren’t any activities for kids. There are lots of solo travelers and groups of friends here, attracted to the hotel’s guest-friendly policy and affordable rates. The restaurant has a free breakfast buffet, which receives positive feedback, and the Lobby Bar serves snacks as well as drinks. The hotel has a modern gym and there's a spa at their sister property next door. Families may prefer the more kid-friendly Amari Garden Pattaya.

3

Penthouse Hotel

Pattaya, Thailand

The 56-room, mid-range Penthouse Hotel has an adult theme geared toward bachelors, couples, and partiers, enhanced by the fact that Walking Street and nightlife are close by. The hotel has two small pools, one with slides, and the Kitten Club is the name of a go-go bar downstairs and signs in the hotel indicate “kittens” and “accredited guests” are free to join regular-paying hotel guests. Rooms are dim and colorful, many outfitted with round jetted bathtubs, mirrors on the ceilings, dance poles, and swings. All rates include breakfast, and the cafe receives positive reviews for its Thai and international dishes. For a more conservative hotel that's also near the action, consider the Beverly Plaza Hotel.

4

Sunbeam Hotel Pattaya

Pattaya, Thailand

This three-pearl, 268-room hotel is ideal for those who want to party all night and relax all day. It's a 10-minute walk from the bars and nightclubs on Walking Street, and a three-minute walk to the beach. Rooms are spacious and all include air-conditioning, flat-screen TVs, and furnished balconies; but they lack sea views and bathrooms are looking tired. The outdoor pool has a separate children's pool and a swim-up bar, and there's an all-day international restaurant with buffet-style dining and a generous breakfast spread. Other facilities include a business center, fitness center, and 24-hour room service. Wi-Fi is free, but can be unreliable. Those who don't need to be in the thick of the action might like Le Viman Resort instead, offering tranquil grounds and a full-service spa.

5

Grand Hotel Pattaya

Pattaya, Thailand

The three-pearl, 80-room Grand Hotel Pattaya is located in central Pattaya, directly on Walking Street. It's surrounded by shops, bars, and restaurants, and the beach is a two-minute walk away. It's great for partygoers, but families and light sleepers may struggle with the all-night noise from nearby nightclubs. The hotel offers simple lodgings for travelers on a budget, with slightly tired air-conditioned rooms that include cable TVs, minibars, and free Wi-Fi. Most rooms have balconies with sea views. The restaurant serves international cuisine and an American breakfast buffet for a fee, plus alcoholic beverages and fresh coffee at the bar. There's a rooftop sundeck with sun loungers and sea views, but no pool or wellness facilities. Alternatively, the Sunshine Hotel & Residences isn't as central but adds three swimming pools.

6

247 Boutique Hotel

Pattaya, Thailand

This three-pearl, 54-room hotel is located just a few minutes' walk from Pattaya's major nightlife area and a 10-minute walk from the beach. It's a popular choice for singles and partygoers, though it's noisy at night due to numerous bars and clubs in the surrounding area. Rooms are pleasant and simply decorated, equipped with air-conditioning, rainfall showers, and free Wi-Fi. Suites add furnished balconies and modern kitchenettes. Facilities include a rooftop saltwater pool with sun loungers and city views, plus a small fitness center. There's no on-site restaurant, but guests can dine at the hotel's sister property across the road. Travelers might also like Areca Lodge, a larger contemporary hotel adding two restaurants and a traditional Thai spa.

7

Sunshine Hotel & Residences

Pattaya, Thailand

The Sunshine Hotel & Residences is a mid-range hotel set in the buzzing and bustling Soi 8 district in the center of Pattaya city. Split between the older and newer sections of the hotel, the 274 rooms are either dated or contemporary yet bland, though most have balconies. Features include three pools, one on the rooftop with pretty views, though they can fill up quickly. The main caveat is the surrounding nightlife which is invariably noisy until late, so while the rates are very reasonable, a good night's sleep is far from guaranteed. For a budget option away from the ruckus, the Red Planet Pattaya is a good pick.

8

Bella Express Hotel

Pattaya, Thailand

The 53-room Bella Express is a mid-range hotel in central Pattaya, situated about a seven-minute walk from the beach and 10-minute drive from Walking Street. The colorful hotel is outfitted with simplistic, modern furnishings in every shade of the rainbow, giving it a cheerful vibe. Air-conditioned rooms have mini-fridges, hairdryers, and safes, but some are showing age and have old tube-style TVs. The rather large outdoor pool and elegant spa are standouts, and there are also a fitness room and sauna overlooking the area. The mostly well-reviewed restaurant serves international cuisine with an emphasis on Indian cuisine and there's poolside drink service. The similarly priced Page 10 Hotel has more inviting, contemporary rooms, though it lacks a full spa.

9

Hotel Beverly Plaza Pattaya

Pattaya, Thailand

The budget Beverly Plaza Hotel has a convenient location near Pattaya Beach and Walking Street, but interiors are worn and dated. The 190 rooms are air-conditioned and spacious with minibars, tea- and coffee-making facilities, and TVs, but they lack balconies and Wi-Fi requires a fee. There's an outdoor lap pool with an adjacent Beer Garden, as well as two restaurants serving Chinese and Indian fare. There's no gym, but in-room Thai massages can be arranged. Wi-Fi is free in the lobby, where there are two computers available for guests, but there is a fee for it in the rooms. The area has several other affordable options that offer a better value, one being the better-maintained Grand Hotel Pattaya; some rooms have views of the sea, but it doesn't have a pool.
