Bottom Line
Another large hotel in the NH chain, the mid-range Vittorio Veneto meets the company’s benchmark of contemporary elegance with new, clean and comfortable furniture and facilities, and a restaurant and bar. Located in the high-end Via Veneto area within walking distance (but be ready to hoof it uphill to get back to the hotel) to the Spanish Steps and other attractions, the location is ideal and prices are decent, although the place does not look or feel Italian and is designed largely for business travelers.

Scene
Contemporary and new -- though not very Italian
Situated in a glass building, the 201-room hotel with conference center and meeting rooms feels a little out of place among the area’s old palaces and elegant ancient buildings. Oddly, it was originally a monastery and as a hotel was most recently renovated in 2009. With disco-ball-style lights hanging over the reception desk and a wall of shiny elevators, the place has an immediate nightclub feel that blends with the contemporary elegance of the lobby, bar, and restaurants’ sleek leather furnishings and hanging tube lamps. The overall look is new and modern, though it could just as easily be found in Oslo as in Rome.
Location
On Via Veneto, across from Villa Borghese
NH Vittorio is located in the heart of the prestigious Via Veneto and beautiful Villa Borghese, famous for Fellini's "La Dolce Vita" from the 1960s. The area is full of upscale restaurants and luxury shops, and is well-serviced by subway and bus. The walk to Trevi Fountain and the core of Rome’s historic sights is about 15 minutes from the NH Vittorio Veneto, but downhill, meaning that the walk back is uphill. The Spagna train station is a 10-minute walk through an underground pass on Via Veneto.
Rooms
Rooms with balconies are worth the extra money
Each of the 201 rooms is bright and modern, but they all look very similar and are almost devoid of art and decoration aside from one wallpapered-wall behind the bed. They differ only in size and in the fact that some have balconies. Each is equipped with modern bathrooms with tub and showerheads. Stainless steel mini-fridges, safes, flatscreen TVs, a spacious desk area, and state-of-the-art coffee makers are standard. There is free, unlimited, and reliable Wi-Fi. Rooms with balconies are worth the extra money, as the outdoor space is more like a private rooftop patio, with sweeping panoramas of Via Veneto and Villa Borghese and a large lounge and seating area.
Features
Business haven, restaurant, bar, and free buffet breakfast
The hotel restaurant serves Mediterranean cuisine for lunch and dinner, and the breakfast buffet offers scrambled eggs, sausage, and several cold dishes. Wi-Fi is free throughout the hotel. There is also a 24-hour front desk and room service, dry cleaning, luggage storage, laundry, and babysitting services upon request. Business travelers will appreciate a large business, presentation, and meeting center with several rooms, and a private (paid) parking garage nearby. Small pets are allowed for a fee.
