Five-pearl Eden Rock is one of the more popular resorts on St. Barth’s, and with good reason: it has two top-notch restaurants, playfully unique rooms with luxurious amenities, and a lively location in the island's downtown area that attracts chic travelers from all over the world. The prices are certainly nothing to sneeze at, but the hotel’s attention to detail (like personalized welcome notes) is what helps to maintain their reputation as one of the top resorts in the Caribbean. Those on a tighter budget might want to compare with the nearby Le Toiny, an equally luxurious stay at slightly more affordable rates.

Hotel Guanahani is a beautiful resort on the northeast side of St. Barts that attracts well-heeled guests and celebrities (Bethenny Frankel came here for her honeymoon). The hotel offers 75 rooms and separate cottages, all of which feature terraces, colorful, beachy decor, and modern amenities such as large flat-screen TVs, iPod docks, and free Wi-Fi. The extensive amenities include a pool, two kids' clubs, tennis courts, several delicious dining options, and a top-notch spa, ensuring that there's plenty to keep both couples and families happy -- though the hotel does tend to attract more couples. The beach has numerous activities, but is relatively small, so many guests take day trips to the nearby beaches.

The 42-room, luxury Christopher St Barth’s balances an urban chic ethos with contemporary French design and tropical island vibes. Large rooms offer rustic charms like peaked wooden ceilings alongside accents like minimalist four-poster beds and glazed concrete floors. The lush grounds house a Sisley Spa, a pricey ocean-front restaurant, and the ultimate hotel pool -- an elegant infinity number overlooking the ocean that's large enough to make up for the lack of an on-site beach. Families with kids might want to compare prices with Eden Rock, where they’ll find beach-related activities and a cozier room design.

The boutique, family-owned Hotel Le Village offers a quaint slice of European life in the heart of the tropics. Its central location near the island's downtown shops and restaurants, as well as simple, stylish rooms with spacious outdoor kitchens or kitchenettes, makes this hotel as convenient as it is charming. The lack of an on-site restaurant or beach is remedied by the hotel’s proximity to both; though climbing the steep hill back and forth could become tiresome for some. Eden Rock St Barth’s is nearby and has an on-site beach and restaurant, and offers a slightly more luxurious experience overall.

If you ever wondered where the stars might go for R&R, look no further than the minimalist Le Sereno, a chic five-pearl boutique hotel reserved for travelers seeking all-around luxury. The simple, elegant interiors by famed designer Christian Liaigre are matched by top-notch amenities and lovely views of the ocean, and the option of in-room (or oceanfront) spa treatments as well as 24-hour room service makes for a truly pampering experience. The hotel’s restaurant, while tasty, is quite pricey -- even for fancy St. Barth's -- and the semi-private beach is not as pretty or wide as the island’s numerous other strips of sand. The hotel is best for couples who don’t mind paying a little extra and renting a car to reach the secluded romance of this hillside hotel.

After being significantly damaged by hurricanes Irma and Maria in September 2017, Hotel Le Toiny reopened on October 15, 2018. We will update our photos and review as soon as we can. Undoubtedly one of the most prestigious hotels in St. Barts, this exclusive 14-villa luxury resort with a Parisian flair sits amid 42 lush acres of natural hills and beachfront. The private villas are spacious and airy, each with its own infinity-edge pool. And the views here are jaw-dropping. The French restaurant is one of the island’s most renowned, one of the many reasons celebrities come here to relax. Rates are nothing to sneeze at, but you'll definitely receive the all-star treatment that should come with such a hefty price tag. 

Located directly on intimate Anse de Cayes, Le Manapany has many admirable features: a fantastic pool deck, a nice beachfront restaurant, a tranquil spa, a small boutique, and direct beach access. But the rooms vary greatly in both size and style -- ranging from overtly stark modern to Robinson Crusoe chic and everything in between. Some guests complain they are smaller and not as chic as others on St. Barts. But then again, it's hard to come by this many amenities at this price point anywhere else on the island. Manapany’s biggest competitor is the posh Hotel Guanahani & Spa, which is far more refined -- and much more expensive. For travelers travelers looking for more features than a boutique hotel can offer, but lower rates than the luxury resorts require, Manapany is about as good as it gets.

This retro-chic boutique villa located just a skip away from Lorient Bay makes up for a lack of amenities with a hipper-than-thou vibe. It's a Parisian escape on St. Barts, with rooms inspired by 1950s Paris -- white and pastel blues and tile, open bathrooms, art books, wall murals, and vintage minimalist furnishings. The nine freestanding bungalows all have indoor/outdoor showers and private terraces, and two small pools are surrounded by palm trees and white lounge chairs. This place is tres chic -- not to mention sexy. It was previously a nightlife hotspot before transitioning into a villa rental in late 2015. Since the entire property must be rented, it's best suited to groups or families; couples seeking serious privacy with cash to spend will also likely be happy here. As of 2017, La Banane is no longer operating as a hotel. 

This luxury hotel embodies the tony French Riviera style of St. Barts with mind-blowing ocean views, first-class service, and a level of exclusivity that comes from having just 14 rooms in total. This place doesn't come cheap -- but each suite and villa comes with its own private pool or plunge pool and private terrace (many overlooking the ocean). A spectacular restaurant and an enchanting spa round out the luxury -- and it's all within walking distance of Gustavia’s best shops, restaurants and cafes. The one drawback to some may be that the hotel is not located on the beach (it's a five-minute walk away).
