Its Italian restaurant serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and is a good place to watch the sun go down while sipping terrific (though a tad pricey) cocktails.

Across the street from Kuta Beach, the 80-room Alam KulKul Boutique Resort is an upscale property with plenty of amenities. An outdoor pool surrounded by greenery is a plus and there is an on-site restaurant, Orange Bar and Lounge; breakfast is included with some rooms. Massages and a steam shower are available at the spa and the hotel offers a free scheduled area shuttle. Free Wi-Fi is available and there is a business center on-site, but no fitness center.

The boutique, mid-range Dekuta Hotel is in Kuta’s city center -- a two-minute walk to Kuta Beach. It has an infinity pool with a waterfall feature, and 49 big, air-conditioned rooms, some with balconies and rainfall showers, at value prices. The on-site restaurants and bars, including a rooftop bar and lounge, are popular with guests as well as locals, but breakfast is not included in room rates. Wi-Fi is free but can be sluggish. Travelers might want to check out the beachfront Patra Jasa Bali Resort & Villas, which, although not centrally located, has a spa and offers free breakfast.
