Bottom Line

This luxurious property is located across the street from the City Market, in the heart of the most upscale area of the Historic District. It seems there’s been more effort put into some of the gorgeous bathrooms (with Hermes toiletries as well as separate showers and tubs) than into the elegant but somewhat plainer standard rooms (the striped comforters in particular could use an upgrade). The Concierge Level is definitely worth the extra dollars, with more opulent rooms and wonderful amenities. The great pool area, the solid rooftop bar and the fine steakhouse are some of the highlights of this classy property.

Location

In the heart of the Historic Downtown, across the street of the City Market

The Market Pavilion has one of the most coveted addresses in the South. It is next door to the City Market (one of the major attractions in Charleston), in the area called Slightly North of Broad. This neighborhood has some of the most glamorous houses in South Carolina and those who live there are nicknamed "SNOBs" for their chic quarters. The Historic Downtown area looks just how it does in the movies, with colorful, porch-fronted homes, cobblestone streets, and beautiful gardens. Many of the homes date back to the early 1800s and the area maintains its old-town feel with the city's height restriction ordinance. This area is also home to high-end shops, galleries, and restaurants along King Street, as well as the College of Charleston, which means there is a lively nightlife scene.- 22-minute drive to Charleston International Airport
