Bottom Line

The hotel's location is its selling point: it's located in The Squaire, Germany's biggest office building that connects via skywalk to the airport's Terminal 1, as well as the train station with high-speed connections to Frankfurt's center. The 334 rooms are on the small side, but they're comfortable and all come with king-sized beds, kettles, and ironing facilities. Handy features for business travelers include a well-equipped business center and 24-hour gym shared with the adjacent sister Hilton. An on-site restaurant offers a reasonably priced breakfast spread, plus lunch and dinner. Those wanting a bit more from their stay without compromising location could look into the other Hilton on-site, which is more stylish but quite a bit pricier.

Hilton Garden Inn Frankfurt Airport

Scene

A great fit for business travelers and vacationers passing through

The Hilton Garden Inn Frankfurt Hotel is like much of the rest of the chain: comfortably serviceable, with mid-range comforts tailored to business and leisure travelers. However, it has the distinction of being in Germany's largest office building, the Squaire, which is known for its iconic, ultra-modern design. The main appeal for this location, however, is its almost-immediate proximity to the airport and high-speed train station, making it ideal for those with onward journeys or short sprints of business in Frankfurt proper versus a longer touristic stay in the city. Despite all the surrounding activity, the hotel remains quiet and relaxed.

Location

Connects to both Frankfurt Airport and the high-speed train station

Location is the main draw at this property, which connects directly to Frankfurt Airport's Terminal 1 via skywalk (Terminal 2 can be accessed by shuttlebus from Terminal 1). Some guests have complained that it can be a bit hard to find, especially because there's another Hilton in the same building; this property is on the east side of the building.

Below the airport is the ICE station, with high-speed trains running directly into the center of town in 15 minutes and to cities all over Western Europe. A taxi into town also takes about 15 minutes. Other than that, there's not a ton to do in the surrounding area, but it's ideal for travelers connecting to or from flights or train journeys.

Rooms

Rooms are contemporary and comfortable, with a few handy perks for business travelers.

The hotel's 334 rooms are decorated in a contemporary, cool earth-tone scheme -- think light green and robin egg blue -- that's typical of the brand, though these run a bit on the small side. Each comes with a king-sized bed, which is made up in white linens, desk with U.K., U.S., and EU plugs, and ergonomic Mirra chair. Family room options, made up of two connecting rooms (one with a queen bed) are also available.

Rooms all have a LCD TV, though it's on the smaller side and doesn't have a lot of English-language selections. There are also a tea- and coffee-making tray and safe, and unlike many hotels in Europe, guests will find an iron and ironing board in each room. Bathrooms are modern and standard for what you'd get in a mid-range chain hotel. They have a shower/tub combo, toiletries, and a hairdryer.

Features

Features are basic, but cater well to business and layover travelers

The hotel offers most of the features that a business or leisure traveler on a layover would need. There's an on-site restaurant that's perfectly fine for an after-flight meal or pre-flight breakfast (not included, but it's reasonable for the typical chain-hotel continental spread it is). It also offers kids' menus, and, for the adults, a fully stocked bar.

The well-equipped and modern fitness center is shared with the other Hilton property, and it's open around the clock and offers a sauna and steam room. A mini-market is open 24/7. Free Wi-Fi is fast throughout the property, and there's remote printing from rooms to the 24-hour business center, which is on the small side. Three meeting rooms are also on-site.

Parking is available with dedicated spots in the garage, though it's on the expensive side.
