This grand, French Baroque-inspired resort is one of Atlanta's premier options, located in the affluent Buckhead neighborhood. The immaculate pool piazza (yes, the call it a piazza) comes with plush lounge chairs and a nice bar. The indoor lap pool at the Mandarin Oriental is stunning, and the loungers are comfortable. The 422-room InterContinental Buckhead Atlanta is classic and elegant -- from the bright, grand lobby with fireplaces and marble columns to the lovely outdoor pool with plush loungers. This design-focused, chic hotel offers a younger, funkier alternative to upscale hotels in Atlanta. The pool offers nice views of downtown, but it is rather small. With 1,242 rooms, the behemoth Hilton Atlanta features the quality amenities travelers expect from the Hilton brand, including a wonderful outdoor pool. The lovely indoor saltwater lap pool with Jacuzzi and free poolside chilled towels, ice water, and Evian spritzes lives up the five-pearl status one expects from a Four Seasons. The large indoor lap pool at the Ritz is one of the luxe property's highlights. The Grand Hyatt Atlanta is an upscale chain hotel geared toward travelers with business in Buckhead. But the hotel's pool and the large, contemporary rooms (equipped with flat-screen TVs, iPod docks, and mini-fridges) make it a fine choice for leisure travelers as well. Of the three W hotels in Atlanta, the W Midtown has the most toned down design. The pool is less scene-y and more family-friendly, with huge comfortable cabanas and many comfortable loungers.
