Like other small-scale boutique hotels along Negril's west-end cliffs, the Caves has a series of intimate platforms carved into the cliffs. From these platforms -- each at a different height -- guests can leap into the incredibly clear waters below. Jump into the water from the 30-foot-high ledge near the breakfast lounge, or take a smaller dive from a ledge just a couple of feet above the water. Or, if you're feeling a little more timid, you can just climb straight down into the water from a ladder. There is a small raft about 200 feet off the shore you can swim out to, but beware of the choppy waves. Only capable swimmers should take the plunge. Located directly on the cliff, the more affordable Negril Escape hotel also has rocky inlets that have been sculpted into diving platforms. Comparable to -- but much cheaper than -- the only slightly more chic Caves resort, the Rockhouse is on the cliff's edge with loungers laid out in pairs on multileveled platforms that are as high as 40 feet above the water. As is the case anywhere on the cliffs, you'll be privy to some of Jamaica's most beautiful sunsets. Tensing Pen is also set along the rugged west-end cliffs, with rustic cottages built seamlessly into the natural setting. Guests can jump into the ocean from Tensing Pen's long rope bridge or from perches along the cliffs. Tensing Pen's wooden bridge is lit up at night. Also on the cliff's edge, overlooking the sea, Catcha Falling Star has 20-foot cliff ledges from which guests can leap into the crystal clear water.
